For me it was in the system tray disguised as the CAT control panel.

Same problem here on my Win XP 32Bit laptop, WIN7 works just fine
When I reboot I get a Error windows can't start DAX on boot up so sounds like a driver issue to me

I was able to get the control panel to work in Admininstrator (F8) mode at startup and I see the drivers normally, it seems to just be the Control panel not loading under a normal user boot, but without the control panel I can get DAX to work anyway.
