Can't Explain This One - But Found The Solution By Accident

For some reason I wasn't getting the normal output power from my Flex as the exciter to drive my THP 1.5 amp.  I tried cycling power on the Flex and still no change.  Finally for the heck of it I tried the frequency calibration on the Flex and then it went back to full output power.  This happened one other time and I did the frequency calibration and once again it fixed it.  Fast forward to tonight and one of my Flex Friend converts was on his radio and the power dropped driving his amp and he was flummoxed too.  I then suggested the frequency calibration trick and he fixed it right away.  Can anyone explain why this works?  How can a frequency calibration tie into a power crow-bar circuit?

I have had the same ting happen to me but did not connect the power restoration with the frequency calibration.  I would also like to know the reasons the frequency calibration is connected to the power.....and how

I am the converted Flex user Mr.  Holmgren speaks of in his post. My radio has been working perfectly and being a new ham I appreciate the technology behind the radio. For weeks local hams meet on a 6 meter net . I have a SPE linear 1.3k and Dan's cable interface hooked up to my Flex.  During this net my radio output dropped out to nothing and not even 5 watts to drive the amp. Holmgren said take a chance and try the frequency calibration to see if that will solve the problem, This corrected the problem in under 3 minutes, all went back to normal. Thinking about this for a few days the only thing I did differently was to turn on the processor to check my audio with it on with Holmgren.. Could something inherent  to the processor on cause this? That's all above my paygrade but wanted to say it happened to me and the frequency calibrate solved the problem. Will not be using the processor till the mystery is solved.

Thanks Mr. Dembski and welcome to ham radio!  I'm glad I could get you up and running again with that great sounding Ferrari amp of yours.
