Cant connect to radio through smart link

Smart link sees radio, but comes back to not connected screen. Smart link status logged in. Sees radio with blue dot. Tap to connect, and it just keeps returning to not connected screen.

It's the latest. Smart sdr for iOS is up to date as well, including the data file.

Hi Scott 

Can you check and make sure it is 2.1.33.  I just want to make sure since you didn't mention the number.

And, what device are you connecting with?  Ipad, MAC or Windows?    I gather it is IOS.

I have this same problem.  Just takes you back to the Tap here to connect screen.  I finally gave up and just use a VPN now.  Every once in awhile I can get it to log in via smart link but 90% of the time I have to use the VPN.  Running 2.1.33

It normally works fine. Today it won't. I'm logged in to smart link. I logged out and then back in. Smart sdr for ios has the latest data file. I remotely rebooted my modem and router. Radio is on. I can run via parallels access just fine. Computer was rebooted. I'm lost.

Mine has been doing this for some time.  Sometimes I can connect but most of the time it doesn't.  I can always connect with my VPN so I don't even try to use smart link much anymore but it would be nice to get it working every time.

I just tried my 6300 on wifi and no vpn via IOS and it worked fine.  

I am not sure what this is saying, but I suspect we may need to look external to the phone or the radio.

Try logging out of your SmartLink account and logging back in.  Your security token may have expired.

No change. Guess I'll have to wait until I get home to reboot the radio and try the log off and log in to smart link on the PC since i have no way to hardware key it remotely.

I rebooted it and my modem. Didn't work. Can connect now that I'm home on my WiFi, but still can't connect using smart link.

Mike & Tim,
Last night (10hours ago) I had a period where 2.1.33 discovered the radio a 6500 but would not connect on any client on LAN WiFi and eventually became unresponsive. SmartLink was coming up as unregistered.
After giving up for a while when I came back I could connect locally but not via SmartLink though the radio is now visible via smartlink.
Will get some time at the weekend.

I rebooted the radio and unregistered, then registered smart link on the PC I run the radio from for base operation. Shut Wi-Fi off on my iPhone, and it's now working. Doing that on the iPhone didn't solve the issue. Many thanks to those who gave me suggestions to try.. And Tim, good to see you're doing better.

I had this issue.  I had to turn on IP6 in the SmartSDR client for my SmartSDR to work over SmarkLink.

I too have the same issues It worked fine yesterday but today no connection. I hit tap here to connect it finds radio then defaults to log in screen again.

I have ip6 selected but still no joy. I will reboot Radio and let you know how I get on

Another round of rebooting radio, pc, routers etc as well as re registering the radio and rebooting again. Took a ride to camp and fired up tired up the IPad and tried Smartlink. very same results as before.. round and round the login loop. It sees the 6500 and if is busy on the local pc you see that prompts you with options then you loop back again

Then I started the Maestro and tried to log in and all was normal to the panadapter... it loaded the meters,menu buttons etc but no pan.. just blank.

I did some more troubleshooting, rebooted that router and check it to be the same as it was 2 months ago and exactly the same results. Had to leave but be back to try again tomorrow. I will go through router settings again. Somethings changed. I may have to open a ticket..?.

Back at the house this morning and ran the Maestro and Ipad through their paces locally and everything works fine.  I've double checked everything I can think of here at the house and by rights it should work this afternoon when I head back over to camp.  That's my plan...  if it doesn't I guess I need to hand this off to someone more knowledgeable than me.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  All last summer the same equipment worked remote from the same site like clockwork??

Hi Mike

If you have eliminated all the items in your control, then it is possible that the problem are items not in your control to change or debug.   What is different between your Camp in your house?   When you don't get the panadapter, something is blocking the Vita49 packets from the radio.  

Assuming I reviewed what you read, when you get remote and on SmartLink it never fully commits?

At the camp I have the same router as at the house...  Linksys 6350 AC1200+.  The internet provider at the house (radio) is Spectrum with appr 90Meg down and 12 up.  The internet provider at the camp is DSL at 6.5 meg down and about .9 up.  I know the ISP equip at the camp end and in the CO is exactly the same as last year because I just retired from the phone company and was the engineer :-)

I assumed I was getting service through the Smartlink server for it to get as far as it does with the setup process.  If I was handy with Wireshark or something I would poke around to see what was going by.  Unfortunately I finished the last years of my work pushing paper instead of dialtone and packets (promoted to my level of incompetence!)   thanks   Mike

yes...  on the Ipad it never fully commits although during the setup process it appears to have the connection enough to drop another user when prompted.  That's really as far as it gets.  The Maestro really wants to work but can't seem to pass the meta data for the panadapter or something.  fun puzzle huh?

the hobby changes over the years but the fun of solving the puzzles stays the same :-)

I am having the same problem. I am attempting to connect using 2 different IPad's on 2 separate networks, same symptoms on both. It discovers the 6600, the window displays the 6600 as an available Smartlink connection but when I select the 6600 and attempt to connect, it will eventually time out after approx a minute with a  "No Response from Smartlink Server Error", They had been working and both stopped working at the same time.  SmartSDR for Windows works fine at both locations/networks.

I re-registered the radio using an email address instead of Google authentication, it still will not connect. Smartlink had been working quite well using IOS. I used it to connect to my 6500 and then 6600 since it’s release., and have had no problems until recently. It appeared to stop arround the time of the last SmartSDR IOS update, but I cannot say for sure it was exactly that time. There have been no changes that I can think of , same firewall, same ISP. It’s occuring on 2 different IPads at 2 different networks, and SmartSDR for Windows works at the same locations. I may try a wire shark capture when I get a chance.

When you set up a SmartLink account, you have three options; email, Google or Facebook.  If you choose email, then the account credentials are directly associated with Auth0 rather than using FB or Google credentials that get passed to Auth0 to access a SmartLink account.

Please note that from a SmartLink account perspective, logging on the SmartLink using either of these three methods are independent of one another.  Meaning, if you log in using email, and register your radio, when remote, if you use a different method (Google or FB), you will not access your radio because these appear as different accounts - not one account with three different ways to log into it.

I did get Smartlink on IOS working. The 6600 is now configured using password authentication and the IPad is configured using Google Authentication. For some reason, using that combination appears to have made it work. I tested Smartlink using SmartSDR IOS at a remote site and it connected fine. Thanks everyone for your assistance with this.

An update to my previous message... On the next reboot of the 6600 smartlink displayed as unregistered. I reregistered using email authentication, it completed successfully. After shutting off the 6600 and restarting, it displayed as unregistered again, so I registered using google authentication and that seemed to keep after several reboots of the 6600. I think the issue I was having with smartlink was due to something going wrong with the authentication process, perhaps not completing successfully even though the prompt indicated it did, not sure. It does appear to be working now with Google Authentication.

I am having the same issue here Except I can connect via ipad but not my Iphone. I can also connect if I use my Iphone as a hotspot and connect my Ipad to the hotspot. Iphone will not connect by itself using the app.

I have always used the email verification. Really no sign that it is an authentication issue. I tried the IPad again today at a different location through a different provider and same result. Odd that the Maestro lost functionality at seemingly the same time. I should have some play time tomorrow. Any more suggestions? I believe I have tried everything in this thread. Thanks! Mike W1BFA

I finally got a chance to go through this piece by piece and found when I did the router change to manual port forwarding at one point, I evidently hadn't saved the setting for 4993 so I was only half working  :-).  I fixed that and took a ride to camp this morning and fired up the Maestro and we had liftoff!  After playing with that a few minutes I started the Ipad and that worked fine as well.  Mission accomplished.  Thank you for all the help and education.   Mike

I am having the same problem with email verification- it worked fine 3 days ago, but now it won’t connect - the SmartLink status looks OK, shows my call, and the SN of the 6300. Am I supposed to have manual port forwarding on the router, and IP Ver 6 set, on my 6300?
