I have tried to get SmartSDR to connect remotely with little success. I have tried Maestro, iOS, and a Windows 10 PC - all in the latest versions of SmartSDR (2.3.9 and iOS). Everything works fine on a LAN, but the only WAN connection I have been able to make is over a Verizon cellular data hot spot, which only works acceptably on 20 meters - all other bands connect but exhibit terrible audio dropouts. (I have no idea why this should be the case). I have tried multiple ISPs in two states - Cox (3 different cities in Arizona), Spectrum (formerly Time Warner in Ohio), and CenturyLink DSL in Ohio. In all cases other than cellular, Maestro SmartSDR finds my radio, and while SmartSDR tests OK, no data is transmitted - I am just looking at a blank screen with a template for meters showing. Ditto for iOS. The Windows 10 version finds the radio, but an attempt to connect results in a report that SmartSDR cannot connect. Help desk tells me that there is no solution- that this is due to the way some (in my case all) ISPs handle their data. This pretty much makes the entire Flex ecosystem useless for the main purpose for which I bought it. Help desk's only suggestion has been that I connect routers in a tunneling VPN mode between my base station and any remote operational site, which is a huge set up hassle when the sites are thousands of miles apart and there is so much trial and error involved in router set up and it's not even clear this approach will solve the problem. Has anyone else seen this issue and solved it?
