Can we replace the TX relay in the field or do we have to send back to flex.?

I think the Relay took a spike on the FLEX 6300 as the Amplifier now stays keyed. It might have taken a spike from the TL922 ? Are there multiple TX relays as I don't have a schematic. Can we use the Accessory jack for TX or is it output from the same relay? Can we repair in the field or do we have to send back to FLEX?

Yes did a hard reset and the amp still stays keyed when I plug the PTT into the TX on the back of the Flex also with Ohmeter shows the TX is shorted

Barry,
I would open a ticket with Flex on this one. The relay sounds like it welded closed, some amps require more current to work PTT. I have done the same thing on an icom 756 years ago, I know it's frustrating. After the repair you will need a buffer relay like the one that MFJ sells it takes very little current to actuate but will handle the load that the TL922 requires.

The Flex manual says this output is good for switching up to 40 volts at 140mA.
According to this page : http://www.ab4oj.com/icom/auxrelay/keyspecs.html
the 922 is 120 volts at 80 mA.

As long as there is never a problem with the amp, it sounds like the amp has sent a spike. It is always a good idea to use a buffer.

So since I don't have a schematic I submitted a help ticket to see if I can replace the TX relay in the field or if it has to go back to FLEX? Has anybody replaced the relay in the field?
Been off all day in the CQ WW RTTY contest due to the failure.
