Can DDUtil access the new RADIO USB ports?

This question came up on another thread about the new USB port feature starting with V1.10.

Mike/WA6FXT  suggested you could run DDUtil remotely on a laptop and configure it to use the local USB ports on the radio to connect the station peripherals.   I'm only operating locally currently and use the USB ports directly  (which is working very well).   But this question may be of interest to those that do operate remotely.

Here is the link for reference:

Tim suggested we start a new thread.....excerpt from the above referenced thread.

As far as I know, DDutil does not currrently have a means of directly controlling/reading the USB ports on the radio.  I don't know if Flex has provided an API interface so that DDutil cound have control of the radio USB ports in the future.

No, the USB Cable feature is designed to interface with external peripherals (hardware) for the primary purpose of getting band data from the radio.

It sure would be sweet, if SmartVSP would allow COM ports to be defined via the same specific USB-Serial cable you support, now.
Between the band data you send direct, and using a virtual Comm port, Laptop Remote would be as simple as running from the shack.
Band data doesn't deal with aiming that SteppIR
