    Hi George
I do have the bhi NEIM1031.  I run the audio from the flex into it and then to the Bose companion speakers.  I dont have it on all the time, but it sure cuts out the noise on signals.  I'd recomend it.  But, if i use plug headphones into it, i can hear a hum if you turn the volume up, which i havent been able to fix yet.  I did see this mentioned on eham reviews.  It can stay in line all the time, only works if you have the power switched on to it.  If you have the power switch off, you hear the normal audio from the flex.  But, the flex has stereo audio out, the input of the bhi is mono, so a few 3.5mm stereo to mono and reverse for output are needed.  But it does make a big difference to the noise.  On mine there is an input **** and a green and red led .  If you turn up the audio on your flex, so the green input led is flashing it seems to work better
I would recomment it.  I did buy it from Dxengineering, also highly recommended

I have the GAP Hear-it. It is a great audio filter option for cutting the 'white noise' static at the audio side verses the RF side. The two combined on the Flex can really make for quiet listening and can improve voice intelligibility. I original got for an IC-725 which it really helped reduce listening
fatigue. Think of it like the concept used with noise cancelling headphones but instead of the ambient environment noise it works on the static. It would interesting if Flex could add an audio filter option like this.

I think they are the same or at least do the same thing technically.
