Only in the case were Flex feels their needs to be a maintenance release. There are no feature updates planned.

Thank you VA3WTB. I enjoy the Smartsdr environment and my flex 6300 but have to consider the merits of my next sdr being one built on the public domain software platform(s). The software subscription costs really start adding up. W7PHG

When you consider since the 6000 radios came out there has only been one charge off $200.00.
that is everal years. The next one will be viraion 3xxxx when ever that is, but that still gives a few years between perchasing. That is not so bad.

And as far as the open sourse,,updates has almost stopped.

Good points VA3WTB. I think I'll pay the piper; Smartsdr offers a great end user experience. Its interesting to see companies which we view as hardware solutions providers evolving in to software solutions providers to a growing extent. I notice this with manufacturers like Keysight/Agilent and the like as well. A fascinating paradigm shift from the hardware centric being supported by software to the software centric being supported by hardware. In my radio endeavor it's all about the software it seems, except for that hunk of wire hanging in the trees. 73 W7PHG

I think you'll be very happy with v2. I just got it, and now wish I'd done it sooner.

Yes, many people are not aware that Flex see's themselves as a software company because ,,,the radio is software after all.
