Any way to quickly generate a spot tone without transmitting?

Since it doesn't appear that we will be getting a CW spot (or auto-spot) feature any time soon, is there any way to quickly and momentarily generate a spot tone (sidetone) without keying the transmitter?

Of course... on the SmartSDR CW control panel, just click on "Breakin" so that it is grey, then activate your external key or keyer. You will get sidetone, but the transmitter will not be keyed. (This doesn't work with CWX, because it ignores the setting of Breakin. That is why I won't use it.)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I rarely use SSDR (I have a 6600M). When I said "quickly" I should have been more clear. Perhaps I should have said "on the 6600M without using menus".

One could assign "Toggle Break-in" to a function key, but it appears to not be one of the options in the F-key assignment pulldown menu.
