The question should have read, "when/if the FCC...".

There is a bit of a hint on this thread:

https://community.flexradio.com/flexradio/topics/powergenius-xl-video

Q2: Will an amp / mock-up be at any of the upcoming hamfests - Yuma?

and answer:

Q2 - depends on getting the FCC certification.  We hope that happens by Orlando (fingers crossed).

Of course one never knows if a problem comes up and takes time to resolve.

A interesting link to the FCC database on passed type accepted devices:

https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm?calledFromFrame=N

If one partially files in the form with:

Equipment Class = Amp
lo / hi frequency  =  2 , 5
lo/hi power =  1500 , 2500

a lot of hits occur. One can drill into the applications to see schematics / photos and theory of operation. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and query the database before Flex knows the amp passed.

Hope this is helpful.

slight change in subject: will the amp have a built in 'tuner' similar to the Expert line? My 2K can tune a 3:1 SWR and do full legal output at that level...

also is there a built in signal coming out from a sensor (whatever is needed) to close the loop around a 'pure-signal' type control algorithm?

No, 4O3A is working on a high power companion tuner that will integrate seamlessly with the PGXL and can us used with other third-party amplifiers.

Yes, there is a tap off the power bridge that can be used for that purpose after the software has been developed

Tim,
Any timeframe for the 403A tuner?  I assume that it does not need FCC approval.

When we know, you'll know shortly thereafter.  We really cannot speculate on a timeframe until we have a high confidence level on a probable ship date and price.
