Alternative display of slice frequency.

Another item from the "I wish" category....

I wish there were optional ways to display the frequency and S-meter for each slice so that we didn't have such a large flag window moving across the display as the slice moved. Here a few options I have though of...

1) Allow the slice info display flag to be minimized even further so that only Frequency, Slice Letter ("A" "B"), and S-meter are visible at the top. Hovering the mouse over it will open it up and allow access to buttons, etc.

2) When we minimize the display flag to show only Slice & TX indicator, move a frequency & S-Meter indicator into the Panadapter window's top border.

3) Have a panel on the right, similar to the TX control panel that can be called up with the current slice info flags stacked one on top of the other. When you open the "Slice info panel" the slice flags move to this locations and minimize on the moving sliders.

My rationale for these suggestions is that, depending upon the sideband selected, and the position of the slice on the display, the current flags tend to cover up the panadapter pips for that slice, rendering the panadapter display much less effective on the signal I am actually listening to. This is more often a problem on LSB than USB.

I agree with the observation that depending upon the sideband selected, and the position of the slice on the display, the current flags tend to cover up the panadapter display for that slice.  This is a problem on CW, LSB, DIGL, SAM, and AM especially.  It will also be an issue when FM is implemented.  When all we had was the panadapter, it was easy enough to accommodate by increasing the size of the window, now that we have the waterfall with v1.2.1, it is much more evident and harder to accommodate for due to reduced screen real estate.  .  It would be nice if the display defaulted to the right side of the panadapter in these modes, or even better would be if the entire display frequency was visible to the left of the flag data.  In other words, don't cover up the display frequency panadapter with the flag.

Ken,
Good ideas, I recently added an idea to consider utilizing more monitors.  But your premise is good, we could use options to customize the space we have.  The one I added it is to see if we could add more space.  .

Here is a link to the idea to "drag the panadapter to another monitor."
