Going to Alaska this summer in the RV. Can the Flex 6500 be programmed with a different turf file or what ever they use to transmit on the alaska emergency frequency if needed.

I would open a help desk ticket and request the turf file for Alaska.. however not sure it will be any different then any other state in the US.  So I think in order to be able to transmit outside the amateur radio bands you will need a turf file that unlocks the radio..

I think..

Best bet is to contact the helpdesk they should be able to help you

5167.5 khz is already in your radio if you are using the current software - just type in the freq. and you will see the TX Ready icon ..
USB with a 2.7 khz filter . . .

Have fun in bear and moose land . .

Cheers

I raised a big fuss with them about a year ago and they put it into the standard software release a few releases back.  I know they are overwhelmed back there, but they do listen and try to make the radio better and better.

Hope he gets only mosquito bites rater than bear bites!

Cheers
