Yes, I have the AirPod Pros set up as a mic profile.   You m
ust use with PC SDR mic input.   Works well.  I had to spend some time, using the FDX method, to get all the audio settings set.

Hi there, Alan & Howard.  Your responses are encouraging.

I don't see any ports on the Maestro that might accept a dongle to work with the AirPods, but perhaps it can be programmed thru the Maestro to just be a Bluetooth connection.  It may be that I will only be able to do it where I can be at the main box.  I am likely going to purchase a 6400 with the Maestro, tomorrow.  There looks to be two USB ports on the back of the 6400, so if a dongle is required, I suspect that it should work from one of those.  I'll do some research to see if there is such a thing as a dongle to allow the AirPods to work with non-Apple devices.

I am a Mac and Apple person, so I would expect the AirPods to work flawlessly on my MacBook Pro as well as my iPhone or my wife's iPad since they were designed to play well together.

Thank you both for your input.  I am encouraged.  I have a conventional headset with the appropriate plugs and there should be a mic with the radio, so I'm good to go, either way.  Thank you both, again!

I am really looking forward to the FlexRadio experience!

You would need to hack the Maestro to enable Bluetooth.  Not recommended

the AirPods Will definitely work with the iPad running SSDR for iOS

Can also run SSDR in a windows emulation on your MacBook.  I have used AirPods that way.  There is a version of SSDR that runs native on macs but I have not tried it

i do not think the USB ports on a 6400 support a. Bluetooth dongle

Thank you, Howard.  I agree that hacking is not a good idea.  I could pretty quickly turn a great radio into an expensive desktop ornament.  I will pursue the more conventional headset approach, and it sounds like there are quite a few of those "out there".

If you looking for a good long range wireless solution for the Flex this work well.  It can be adapted for other radio but I use it on the Flex.

Plantronics has been the producer of a notably high quality of product.  I will research that.  Thank you so much, John.

This version gives you a range of up to 330ft.  You can also supplement it with a key fob that has a wireless PTT button so you can walk around your house and property and operate like you sitting at the radio.

I use my Air Pods pro with my 6500. I bought a cheap bluetooth transmitter and tried it on both the powered speaker out on the back panel and the headphone jack on the front. Neither provided enough drive. I then added a line amplifier but it barely provided enough gain. Finally I bought a small 20 watt speaker amp and it drives the bluetooth transmitter more than enough to use with the Air Pods Pro. Now I can sit in another room or outside and listen or monitor for when someone comes on the air. Cannot use the Air Pods mic though I suspect I could rig something up with a bluetooth receiver to do that.

Thank you all for the great input.  The 6400 is supposed to be delivered on Tuesday.  Yay!  I'll see what I can do with what you all have shared.  Thank you again.  Looking forward to the adventure.
