Acom amp

Running the flex 6500.  Will the Acom 1200 amp connect directly to the 6500 using
the cable from Flex.  I do not want to use DDUtil.

It should work fine. Set the Acom to use Kenwood CAT protocol. Make sure baud rate on both amp and SmartSDR matches. You will need a USB to setial cable with FTDI chipset plus a custom cable (see below). Flex sells the FTDI chip cables or you can order from Mouser, DigiKey or other online places. Be careful of Amazon and eBay as it may be a Chinese knockoff and may not work.

Page 14 has the info you need.

You need a custom DB15M to DB9M cable. The chart on page 14 is confusing. The first column (TTL) should be ignored. So pin 2 to 3, 3 to 2, and 5 to 5. Three wires.
