very very basic app: record off the air audio sample with win7 sound recorder. 1 DAX channel, receive only, 1 slice, 1 pan. it seems like i almost have to max out the gain in both DAX audio gain and Win sound recorder level to produce usable audio on replay. Am I overlooking something? 73 W5XZ, Dan

Is the "Recording" default device your DAX output (Windows control panel)?

That is just about as it should. The meter on DAX seems to be calibrated for Unity Gain when the meter bounces to max. Unity gain ("0 dB") is the standard for line level inputs. I would adjust DAX Out for just barely hitting the Max and then adjust the recorder input for best recording. I record from DAX to Audacity and have to have similar levels.
