On occasion, as "mayor" of the Community, I am called upon to perform certain duties in addition to the daily activities related to customer engagement. This is one of them. Over the past several weeks, I have noticed a few transgressions of our usage policy or as I like to refer to it as community etiquette. Our guidelines are really very simple and sourced from basic common sense and the law of reciprocity. So I'd like to take a moment of your time to repost these guidelines (they are on the right-hand sidebar).
When using the Community always show respect to others regardless of their opinions. Give people the benefit of the doubt, just like you would if talking to them in person. Posts that include personal attacks, overtly negative comments, non-constructive criticism, falsehoods or gratuitous profanity will be removed, as they do not contribute to the community atmosphere we want to establish. Any pattern of poor behavior may result in losing your Community posting privileges. In the past, we have purposely allowed some latitude regarding usage policy enforcement mainly because we really have not had to and we really don't want that dynamic to change. But if we must, we will. As a group, I compliment the vast majority of community members for being civil and understanding and treating one another with respect. I am not anticipating having to change our position on this, as the community is self-policed very well. So hopefully this friendly reminder will be sufficient for everyone to remember ham radio is just a hobby and the intent is for everyone to enjoy themselves. 73 from FlexRadio.
