Remote Setup
I am trying to be able to run my FLEX 6500 remotely. The radio is in Knoxville, TN and I am in Huntington Beach, CA. when I am trying to run the radio remotely. I am presently in Knoxville and trying to get SmartLink to connect. When I press the TEST button the little circle next to the TEST button turns RED. I have tried AUTOMATIC and it does not work. I went to MANUAL and put in 4993 and 4994 and still not good.
My internet provider is AT&T fiber and I am using their Gateway/Router and I have gone into NAT/Forwarding and tried port forwarding 4993 and 4994 TCP and UDP and I still can't get my radio to connect to SmartLink server. What am I doing wrong here? I am used to a UPnP router and I don't have this issue.

Hi Bob
Did you run through all the steps in Chapter 9 of the manual including the PTT registration. You have to do this while you are sitting beside the radio. Without that step happening, your radio will not register.
If you are still having an issue, open a support ticket so they can help you isolate the problem.

Thanks. I have setup 3 FLEX radios for remote operation and they all worked just fine. I think I may have a problem with this AT&T Gateway/Router because it used to work. I think AT&T did some sort of update and **** things up. I might have to change ISP companies.

I just posted a similar question as I cannot get SmartLink to work with a 6600M and on the fiber gateway.
"CoPilot AI" says that it's a known issue when using the at&t supplied PACE 5268AC fiber gateway on their network (I have 1 Gbps U/D fiber). SmartLink is registered but SmartLink fails.
The "AI" says that I need to connect the 6600M to a low cost router, configure the radio and the router to port forward 4993 and 4994 (not UPnP), then tell the PACE gateway to place this router in DMZ+
I don't have a spare router and as this setup at home is to simply test the config before heading up the mountain to replace a remote 6400 being sent for repair, I will assume that I have 99% (never say "100% LOL) probabilities that it will work fine.
Any feedback will be appreciated :-)
