OpsLog — a free Windows logger that talks to SmartSDR natively (slices, spots, PGXL, TGXL, AG8x2)
Hi all — I'm Greg, F4BPO. I've been writing a logger called OpsLog for my own station and it has grown enough to be worth sharing. It's free, Windows, a single .exe, no installer.
It speaks the SmartSDR TCP API directly — no OmniRig, no virtual COM port — so the Flex-specific parts are actually built in rather than bolted on:
- Multi-slice aware. Every in-use slice shows as a row; everything (frequency, mode, DSP, spot clicks) follows the active one, so a second slice monitoring another band never hijacks your logging. Split is only reported when it really is a split.
- Spots on the panadapter. DX-cluster spots are pushed to the radio and colour-coded by what you still need. Click one on the panadapter and the callsign lands in the entry field. WSJT-X decodes can be spotted the same way.
- Live meters over VITA-49 — S-meter (click to fill the RST), forward power, SWR, mic, compression, PA volts and temperature.
- RX/TX antenna per band, applied automatically on band change.
- CWX keying, so no WinKeyer is needed for CW.
- PowerGenius XL operate/standby and fan mode, and Antenna Genius switching, in the same window.
The rest is an ordinary full logger: DX cluster with alerts, awards, ADIF, LoTW/eQSL/QRZ/Club Log, contest logging, maps, QSL cards, and a shared-MySQL mode for multi-operator.
Newest and least proven: full-duplex satellite on two slices (A downlink, B uplink) with Doppler tracking. It's written against the API but I have no satellite-capable Flex here — if anyone works birds with transverters, I'd genuinely like to hear how it behaves.

Feedback and bug reports very welcome — this is a one-man project and reports from Flex owners are what shape it.

Amazing work!

It's superb. New features are added regularly and the support is first class too. Greg even takes suggestions on board and implements them!0

Very nice indeed… and, like SliceLogger, there is no need for CAT or any of the 'interfaces' like OmniRig, etc. This may be the replacement for Log4OM that I've been looking for :-)

For those who like to chase it is full of features to chase RDA, US Counties, US States, DXCC, Bands, Modes, Slots, Prefixes, SOTA and POTA, FT8 Decode panel included as well. Native management for rotators Arco, GS232A and B, Easycom for satellite tracking as well as worldmap for satellite tracking with doppler and azimuth/elevation auto tracking, pst rotator or Rotator Genius…
Hope to get additional feedback from the Flex community, until then enjoy.

You download the .exe you create a folder OpsLog you put it inside and you launch the exe file that is all.
All the time you want to use it you just double click the .exe0 -

I'm getting OPsLog set up and it is very impressive. It would be even more impressive if I could find on the screen where the Settings button is. Please Help.

A Linux version has been issued and seems to work well on Mint, Debian and uBuntu

Version of yesterday 0.50.0 allows to create a connection between two OpsLog (one master where the radio is and one **** on the remote computer) and get CAT and audio through so you can do remote operation.

I had to try this and I was impressed. Very well done… I looked for MQTT and did not see it. It would be very cool if it had a mqtt client that could send commands.

I played with the app today and everything works fairly well. On my 32" monitor when I go to minimal mode the app blinks until I grab then the bottom edge and pull the canvas down slightly. However I can not now get opsLog to discover the 6600 when they are connected to the same switch. It was working and I input a manual ip address. I don't think it is firewall related. Also when it was working it did not show the meters. Still nicely done.

I was able to get the radio/meters back. I did notice I had several copies of the fw rules so I deleted them and created the rule again and it was able to see the discovery data.
