Remote 6600 Split operation with HaliKey Serial adapter

While trying to work RI1FJL on 15m SSB i had issues getting split to work. When I clicked split on slice A, Slice B would open with TX in red and freq up 5 just as it should. When I engage the foot switch TX reverts back to Slice A. I tried setting it up many times with no luck getting it to work. If I'm not using Split the foot switch works correctly.

I had to use VOX to make the contact. The TX would stay on Slice B while using VOX.

Any ideas as to what I may be doing wrong?

That is because you have your Halikey assigned to Slice A. You TX Slice (up 5) is actually Slice B.

The quick fix would be to do an XIT up 5Khz.

Or manually create slice B listening on the DX freq and slice A as your TX slice on your TX freq.

Thank you Mike and Dave. I would of never thought of either one of those fixes. I just assumed if Slice B was set as the TX frequency that would be the TX frequency. You learn something new every day! I tell people all the time that Ham Radio keeps my mind active.

ALTERNATIVELY:

You can turn OFF the "Auto-Switch Slice" for the Halikey's COM Port in CAT.

This way, the Halikey will key the TX on whatever slice is set as the Active TX Slice.
