Unable to Register 6700 to Smartlink

I purchased a used 6700 and am unable to register it with Smartlink. I was able to update the radio to v4.2.20 with no problem but the registration process times out while trying to reach the servers and no further prompts. I have had two other 6700's registered over the same network. Where do I go from here.

Is this your first attempt at v4.2.20? You just stated you had two other radios on the same network.

This leaves me with a lot of questions. What version license was on this 6700…? V2 gives you some features but not all and V3 gives you more. Did you just load the basic version of 4.2.20 or pay for Plus version. I'm only asking because of time only. Help desk is your friend (writing a check) for Plus also is your friend if the radio was on v1, or v2… for the enchilada you need to be coming from V3… Erika DD

Hi Erika,

Just for information the radio already had a v4 license when I purchased it and so did my other radios. No Plus version.

However, disregard the Mayday Call as I was finally able to get the radio registered. The Test button was originally greyed out but somehow messing with it got it functioning. After a test it then registered. All WITHOUT keying the radio.

Go Figure.

Often, when this happens, it is the customer has a LAN cable for the radio connected directly to the PC and the PC is on WiFi. This is why the radio can't reach the SmartLink server.

So glad to hear everything worked out. I happen to have the plus 30 day wait... but im really enjoying the new features. I have a 6500 and had two of them. Sold one planning to have an 8600 by now. But the $$$ aren't flowing freely AC (after covid) hope it works good for you. Erika DD
