Flex Server Random Dropouts
I have had a chronic issue where every few days or maybe weeks the flex server will lose track of both my 6700's and therefore I can't remotely connect. During this time I will have continuous internet service and can even connect to the home computers via TeamViewer and connect to the radios on the Lan, but they won't be visible to the Flex server. The only way I've found to regain remote service is to reboot the radios. Currently running v4.2.20 but has been an issue for many previous versions.
Has anyone else seen this issue? What can be done to fix it?
How often do the radios ping the server to report their IP address?
Thanks,
Bill AB7AA

I have seen this happen as well. Typically, it can happen if you have an internet outage for a brief period and the radio looses contact with the SmartLink server and a reboot of the radio is the recovery.
I know you said that the coverage was continuous, but can you actually run a utility to log any outages that are brief?

Mike,
Thanks for answering.
How often does the radio ping the server with the IP address?
Why does TeamViewer and other stuff stay connected.

I can't answer you first question.
As for the 2nd, programs that depend on real time communications such as VoIP communications where latency of greater than 200ms is critical also have earlier disconnection points as the data you drop is can be critical.
For Streaming, Remote Desktop, etc. it is less critical.

Mike,
Thanks again for answering.
It sounds like maybe there is no repetitive ping to the Flex server from the radio to reestablish a lost connection. That would explain why if a connection is broken I must reboot the radio to make the it. It doesn't do it itself. Perhaps TeamViewer does have a repetitive ping and that is why I seldom lose it.
If it would be nice if such a feature was added to the radio firmware if doesn't, in deed, have one now.
