Flex 8600 M power output

Hi,

My new Flex 8600M has an output power of 145W at 80m. According to the specs, it should be 100W. Won't that damage the PA?

Is that tested transmitting into a dummy load and with a calibrated watt meter?

If you have a 12V power supply and it has an Amp meter, how much current does the power supply show?

Hi Mike,
I'm using a 13.8V power supply and an LP-700 Digital Station Monitor meter, which is accurate. I'm measuring the power with a 50-ohm dummy load. I tested it on CW and the output power was 102 W. Maybe the meter showed peak power on SSB? Everything is fine.

If you measure RF power into a non resistive load (aka, between the tuner and the antenna) then it is possible that the RF voltage at that point along the feedline is higher then what you would expect.

SSB Peak Power and 100% CW power should be the same power reading. Typically your SSB power reads about 1/3rd of CW power unless you have a bench standward wattmeter, like the LP-700, that samples a lot during each second. I forget what the actual sample rate is, but it is very high.
