KPA500 Amplifier

I have a new Flex 8600M (2 weeks old). I am thinking about purchasing a Elecraft KPA-500 amp. Is this amp compatible with the 8600M? Any complications you can think of? Would you use Kenwood wiring harness?
Please let me know.

You should order and get the Elecraft KXUSB cable (from Elecraft or DX Engineering). It connects from the KPA1500 to USB on the Flex.

Also RCA from Flex TX1 to PTT In on KPA1500. Enable TX1 for each band where you want to use the amp.

Instead of using the Elecraft KXUSB cable to USB on the Flex, do you mean the Elecraft KUSB cable(RS232male on back of the Elecraft KPA500) to USB(USB connection on rear of the Flex8600M)?

Hi Rod, I use a KPA500 / KAT500 combo with my Flex 8600 (and my 6400 before that). Works really well together!

There is no wiring harness exactly. The KPA500 needs two RS232 to USB cables and an RCA cable for PTT.

One USB cable plugs directly into the radio and the other plugs into the PC.

I wrote a FlexiCraft Utility that controls the KPA500 and KAT500 that you might want to use.
