AU-520: DAX TX Gain at 85% for WSJT-X

I order to get any power out I need to set the DAX TX gain to 85%.

The video's and 'How To' documents recommend setting the DAX Tx gain to 45%, but I get no power output at this setting.

Pwr is set to 100% in WSJT-x

At 85% I am not over-driving the 520 per the audio level, I'm between -10 and 0 db. I've also verified my signal is clean by bringing up another pan adapter to monitor my signal.

What other settings can I / should I look at? Or is this something I shouldn't worry about?

Hi Rich, as long as you are not overdriving the audio, you will be fine.

What does the level meter in SSDR say ?? and what do you have set for the PWR slider in WSJT ?

with AU510 and power level in WSJT-X all the way up, I set DAX TX to 48 and get SmartSDR level meter right at zero and peak indicator yellow (not clipping).

Make sure WSJT-X audio TX freq is within you TX passband. You can enable Fake It in WSJT-X to keep actual audio tx frequency between 1500 and 2000 HZ.

Just to add, even though an unlikely cause, that with WSJTx running and with 'DAX TX (FlexRadio DAX)' set in Output, that in Windows settings you have the volume slider at 100% - this is the default setting and it should be ok but just in case.

That was the issue. The output setting in All Sound Devices was set to 31, how that happened, who knows. I set it to 100%

I can only guess this happened during one of the infamous Windows updates.

I'm now transmitting a clean signal with DAX TX Gain set at 45%.
