Smartlink not working on remote station.

Options

Since the july smartlink crash one of my remotes does not work any more. It shows up in the smartlink screen but without ports and when connecting all crashes…

I was able to recover one of the remotes using the reset command on the stacks program on a remote computer on that site but it does not work with this second radio located in the south of France. Power cycling does not work either:

Serial: 3114-4045-6300-6227, Max Licensed Version: v3, Radio ID: 00-1C-2D-02-06-C5, Radio IP: 2.15.38.91, Radio Internet: NOT Available, Radio Firmware: v4.1.5.39794

No idea why the flex box says internet not available. It is connected to the fiber router and all other devices connected there have internet ???

    apparently the upnp gave up…

made a manual entry in the router and it worked…

What did the uPNP tables show?

No idea as the router has French firmware and quite complex to manage….

But there is a new problem, since a week or so my two remotes running v4.1.5 no longer show up on the smartsdr smartlink screen. Did you guys change something ?

We did not change anything. I have 4 radios running all with uPNP turned on for the radios (automatic mode) never have an issue, other than having to reboot the odd one from time to time.

Is it possible you are using the same ports on the WAN side for both radios? For 2 radios, you need 2 TCP ports and 2 UDP ports open (4 total) on the outside.

If your router is giving you some trouble, you can always an AI like ChatGPT to walk you through the settings.

I would be surprised if 'uPNP' just gave up. It is a core function on all routers if turned on. It sounds like it might be helpful to reach out to someone local to you who knows some networking to sort it out.

Screen shots of your PortForward or uPNP tables would allow me to give you some better direction, but for the moment, I am just guessing at what the issue might be based on some of the most common problems we have seen.

Nope The radios are 1000 miles apart lol on different networks and providers.

After a recent thunderstorm we had a power outage and it seems the flex did not come back online.

Is there a way to make a flex 6300 autoboot after a power failure .

The computer rebooted ok but I cannot see the Flex6300 on the Stacks program.

    Pedro.

    on the 6300 put a

Shorted RCA plug into the Remote On jack on back of radio. Then in SmartSDR Settings/Radio Setup, enable Remote On.

Now when 13.8 volts is applied to the radio, the radio will boot.

You should also install an Internet controllable AC plug on the radio power supply so you can then remote reboot the radio.

The "Radio Internet: NOT Available" should probably read more accurately "Radio SmartLink Connection: [Connected or Not Connected]." There is logic to reconnect to the SmartLink server after a radio-side or server-side network outage, but this appears not to work consistently in recent versions. This is something we're looking into being tracked in our system as SMART-10596.

thanks. Difficult to put an RCA plus in a radio that is 1000 miles away :-)

But good hint for next trip to the south of France….

For remote, when you are really far away, the ability to reboot just about anything is a must. I'm speaking from experience. :) I've been running HF remote since 2005 and there are times I have had to remote reboot everything.

This is why FlexRadio added the Remote RCA connector in the original design back in 2012 or so.

    Good luck!

I've added a USB 8 relay card to the two computers that I leave running just for this purpose. On each card I have a relay on each card with the NC contacts wired in series then connected to the Remote On radio Jack. That way as long as I can TeamViewer into either radio I can remote boot the radio. I turn on either relay which opens the connection and turns off the radio. After a minute I turn the relay back Off to reboot. This way if the computer auto updates or has a momentary glitch it does not disrupt the connection. A bonus is with an SPE amp properly connected it reboots the amp also.
