SmartSDR v3.2.34 is Now Available

FlexRadio Systems announces the immediate availability of SmartSDR v3.2.34.

If you are currently using SmartSDR v3.2.31, please install SmartSDR v3.2.34 as soon as possible. This SmartSDR software release greatly improves the stability and reliability of your FLEX-6000 software defined radio. Once SmartSDR v3.2.34 is installed, FlexRadio strongly recommends not reverting to any previous versions of SmartSDR v3 to ensure the optimal user experience.

SmartSDR 3.2.34 can be downloaded from the FlexRadio Systems website. SmartSDR v3.2.34 is a maintenance release containing software bug fixes for version 3 of SmartSDR for Windows, SmartSDR for Maestro, SmartSDR for M models, SmartSDR CAT, and DAX. 

Please download and review the SmartSDR v3.2.34 Release Notes included with the release package before installing SmartSDR v3.2.34 on your FLEX-6000.

WARNING FOR REMOTE USERS: Please see the WARNINGS and CAUTIONS below, specifically the one regarding the need to factory reset the radio after upgrading to SmartSDR v3.2.34 from v3.2.31. A factory reset cannot be performed remotely, so it is recommended that someone be on site with the radio when upgrading.

WARNING: Due to a software defect inadvertently introduced in SmartSDR v3.2.31, if upgrading from SmartSDR v3.2.31 it is STRONGLY recommended that you perform a factory reset of your FLEX-6000 after upgrading to SmartSDR v3.2.34.

Once the radio has been factory reset, DO NOT import any profiles created using SmartSDR v3.2.31. We recommend deleting any profiles exported using SmartSDR v3.2.31 to ensure that they are not utilized as profile backups. Importing profiles created with other versions of SmartSDR are acceptable. 

CAUTION: If upgrading from SmartSDR v3.1.12 or below, this release of SmartSDR will result in two firmware update processes occurring on the FLEX-6000. The radio’s LED indicator will turn purple twice and the radio will reboot after each firmware update. Due to a software change that is specific for M model radios, the firmware upgrade may hang after the 2nd time the power button LED turns purple which will require resetting the radio as described in the Best Practices for Installing a New Version of SmartSDR for Windows section below. 

If you are updating a remote radio using a VPN, having the ability to turn off and on the DC power supply and being able to reboot the radio using the REM ON connector should be a prerequisite before upgrading the FLEX-6000.

FLEXVSP NOTE: If upgrading from SmartSDR v3.1.12 or below, this version of SmartSDR will update the FlexVSP driver. The SmartSDR installation software will automatically remove the previous FlexVSP driver and install the new one. Please reboot your PC when prompted at the end of the SmartSDR v3.2.34 installation process to ensure the FlexVSP driver is installed correctly. The new FlexVSP driver is not backward compatible with previous versions of SmartSDR CAT. An unhandled exception error will occur when using previous versions of SmartSDR with the new FlexVSP driver.


Release Highlights for SmartSDR v3.2.34

Fixed A Critical Database Defect: A software defect was inadvertently introduced in SmartSDR v3.2.31 that resulted in database corruption causing the FLEX-6000 to crash on bootup. This defect has been fixed. It is recommended that you perform a Factory Reset of your radio after installing SmartSDR v3.2.34 and refrain from importing any profiles exported using SmartSDR v3.2.31 to prevent new database corruption. (#J8382)

Corrected Several Networking Defects: The TCP/IP networking stack has been updated to prevent SmartLink and License update issues when a static IP address has been configured on the radio and DHCP functionality has been improved to ensure greater compatibility with business-class Ethernet switches and slow responding DHCP servers. (#J8732, #J8398)

Fixed an Issue with the SWR Foldback Logic: The logic that reduces RF power when the SWR is high has been optimized for integration with the Tuner Genus XL (TGXL). (#J8038)

Fixed a Crash with DAX When a Radio Disconnects: A rare crash (UHE) could occur when a radio is disconnected from the DAX application. This issue has been fixed. (#J8377)

ATU Memories were not Recalled Properly on TX Antenna Changes: A defect that prevented ATU memories from being properly called when changing the TX Antenna selection has been fixed. (#J8371)
